Scores of people have been killed in three suicide bombing attacks targeting Shia Houthi mosques in Sana’a, capital city of Yemen.

According to Al-Massira – a TV channel run by the Houthi rebels, the attacks claimed the lives of 137 people, and wounded another 345. Reuters was a little more conservative with their numbers, and quoted their medical source on the ground in Sana’a as saying that in total, 126 people died in the attacks. Among the killed, according to the Reuters source, is leading Huthi cleric Al-Murtada bin Zayd al-Muhatwari, the imam of the Badr mosque.

An unnamed affiliate of Islamic State in Yemen is said to have claimed responsibility for the attacks.
